Poetry Open Mic Night

Poetry Open Mic Night In-Person

Calling all poets, spoken word artists, lyricists, and songwriters!  Welcome to Hicksville Library's unplugged Open Mic Night, hosted by Nassau County Poet Laureate Paula Curci. Bring your poems, prose, spoken word, lyrics, and songs up to the mic...all encouraging voices are welcome. This month, we're welcoming two incredible poets: Robert Savino, the Suffolk County Poet Laureate 2015-2017 and the Bard's Laureate 2019-2021.  Robert is the co-editor of two bilingual collections of Italian-American poets titled "No Distance Between Us." In addition, Adriana Devers is the founder of Cuentos de Triadas Inc., a MWBE (New York State Certified Minority Woman-Owned Business Enterprise), a cultural organization that offers engaging bilingual programs for underrepresented youth. She is the award-winning bilingual children's book author of  "Mi Chiquitica en Luna Llena."

Register to receive an event reminder. Sign up starts on arrival. You can read three poems or two songs, no epics. Timing at the mic will depend on attendance. No abusive, hurtful comments or hate speech, profanity, obscenity, and/or vulgar speech will be permitted. Open to all. This event is brought to by the Nassau County Poet Laureate Paula Curci and is part of her Acoustic Poets Network™ Visitation Project.  It is endorsed by the Nassau County Poet Laureate Society.
